Musings by The Poet Loriet
First Communion
Today you were an angel
transplanted on Earth.
Your beauty and grace
took our breath away
and left our eyes damp with tears.
You floated down the aisle of the church,
white innocent layers of cotton
swirling softly
and your veil
framing your face
like wispy clouds,
wearing the dress
I wore as a little girl
so many years ago.
We kneeled as you
recieved the heavenly host.
I closed my eyes
and prayed wholeheartedly
that you would appreciate
sacred moments such as these,
that you would find blessings
in life's small intricacies,
that God's paintbrush
would generously
color your life with peace
and that he'd help guide you,
making sure you were rarely
alone or afraid...
Earth angel,
today you invited Jesus
into your life
and our hearts
swelled with pride.
