Pearls© Deb A.

I am one of the fortunate
Few to ever see,
That days are like a sting of pearls
Strung together by time
Enigmatic islands wild and free.

Before me is the blue horizon
Indistinguishable from the sea.
Both the hue of a Robin's egg
A canvas for the fleecy clouds;
Sailing ever before me.

Many an island I have visited.
Oh, so many over my life's time,
Have been bleak, some were lucky.
All stored within memory's hallways,
Leaving their souls imprinted on my mind.

I wonder, who will see the footprints,
Marking where I've roamed?
Who will visit those barren islands,
Braving the howling winds
To learn what I have known?

What joy in being a castaway,
Tossed naked upon a new day
To bask on the sands of time
That rim each perfect island,
Cooled by the sea's spray.
