What's Easter? Copyright © 2004 Geraldine McMullan DohertyWhat's Easter? No Easter eggs, but they don't care The dazed little faces with a stone like stare The war-zone child asks, "Why do they fight"? They can't understand the hatred in sight "What's going on! Why do they fight?" Life is so short this isn't right ! So many children and women to free "Saddam Hussein can you not see?" People are frightened and soldiers are told "Get out there and fight, be brave and be bold" No Easter bunnies or a little chick No Easter bonnets or chocolate to lick There's too much suffering, this world is going mad We don't know who's right ,it all seems too bad Do we need war to make people talk? Do we need bombs, that children can't walk? There's more than Saddam in this hell of a place More than one devil in this human race Do we care at all about what's going on ? As we shut out God and our prayers are all gone He rose from the dead to let us all see If we are good on Earth it's with Him we will be Please pray tonight that there will be peace Not only in Iraq, But that all wars will cease!
