 Calling Home

I can remember clearly
The last time I called home,

It was a simple call
For no reason at all,

It was just so I could hear
Your voice on the phone,

With an accidental flick of a switch
Your voice disappeared
From the answering machine,

Now the sound of your voice
Seems like a distant dream,

There were tears that night
There was even a fight,

We argued over
Who was wrong or right,

Now the years have passed by
There are times I still cry,

For I know when I call home
I won't hear your voice
On the phone
