Musings by The Poet Loriet

Rocka-Chicka Boom Boom

Rocka Chicka Boom Boom
(revision)

We got right to the heart of the matter,
tackling the inner fear that mounted
before sensible thought
had a chance to surface.

Pacing, we waited anxiously in line
for the rock my planet,
turn my world upside down
thrill ride.

My wide-eyed, no fear,
accept no excuses daughter
has coerced me again!

As we dove and spun wildly,
so did my Chinese carry out.
Won-ton whirled
and egg drop rolled.
Sweet and sour chicken
lost all the sweet,
leaving me with all the sour!

Primal screams escaped,
wild and feral,
from the depths of my throat.

The obviously impressed carnie guy said,
"Wow, lady, you really know how to scream!",
teasing me with his eyes of gleam.

I hugged a nearby tree
in an attempt
to steady my sea legs...
A cold clammy sweat
broke through my facade...
Color
slowly
creeped
back
to
cotton
candy
blue
lips.
