Musings by The Poet Loriet

Homebody

I declined the invitation
to visit the garden of the Gods
knowing that your presence
would be a thorn in my side
and your excuses
(always excuses)
about why you can't be
a part of our life
(but just simply apart)
would blow thick in the warm air
like dandelion seeds
and choke me,
causing my eyes to water
and a lump to form in my throat.
It's allergy season again
...and the pollen count is high
...and the bees are
stinging today.
