The Phantom of Cripple Creek
Once I Knew A Man
Temperament Mild And Meek
Living In A West Virginia Holler
Known As “Cripple Creek”
He Had No Certain Beauty
No Special Talents Had He
Just An Ordinary Man
The Same As You And Me
He Fell in Love With A Lady
Her Name Was Mary Lou
She Hardly Noticed Him At All
There Seemed Nothing He Could Do
Finally One Night In Desperation
Taking His Pencil In Hand
He Wrote Her A Note
Praying She Might Understand
“I Am The Phantom”
“A Person You Should Know”
“I Dared Look Into Your Heart”
“Saw The Beauty Of Your Soul”
“I Saw Your Secret Desires”
“The Lover You Seek”
“Tonight I Am The One”
“Bold And Not Weak”
He Signed The Note
And Sent It On Its Way
Both Desiring And Fearing An Answer
Anxiously Awaited What She Might Say
The Days Went By Slowly
Until One Day She Wrote
“Dear Phantom Of Cripple Creek”
“Here Is The Answer To Your Note”
“Every Night I Lay Waiting”
“Waiting Silent Upon My Bed”
“The Same As I Have Every Night”
“Since Your Note I Read”
Hardly Believing His Eyes
With His Pen He Began To Write
“Dear Treasure Of My Heart”
“The Phantom Comes Tonight”
“My Arms Long To Hold You”
“My Lips To Caress Your Face”
“My Hunger Overwhelms Me”
“How I Long For Your Embrace”
Two Days Later He Read
The Words Of Her Reply
“My Dearest Darling Phantom”
“Last Night I Dreamed Of You And I”
“ I Could Feel Your Hands Upon Me”
“Feel Your Burning Caress”
“Oh Wont You Come To Me”
“For I Am Under Considerable Duress”
Tonight Beneath The Shimmering Stars
A Man And A Lady No Longer Seek
The Elusive Key To Happiness
It Was Found - In The Phantom Of Cripple Creek !
