In An Instant
*this was written in tribute of my friend Samantha who died tragically in a car accident in 1998 our junior year in high school. My other friend was the sole survivor in this car wreck*
In An Instant
I remeber the laughter....and the smell of perfume
I can still see your face....so carefree, so alive
than without warning that truck swerved
and slammed right into the driver's side
we all screamed for it seemed like eternity
but it was only 20 seconds....and in an instant you was gone
I remeber opening my eyes to the glass around me
the silence that was so eerie
I looked over at you and you was shaking
in all my tears....I will never forget these
I crawled over to hold you in your final moments
before you had to leave....in an instant you was no longer here
I remeber the funeral....all those familiar faces
that walked past and in my daze
all I could do was cry....shake like a baby
maybe cuz I survived and you didn't
but maybe it was because I realized
how precious life is during that beautiful hymnal song
until in an instant I was sitting in this funeral home
mourning all that your life was
and all it could have been....
in an instant was all it took......
