Olympics 2012
We had our turn in Sydney,
Back in the year 2000.
Now we sit in such excitement
To hear whose turn is next.
Athens was a wonder,
So colourful and loud!
But who now will step forward
And hold the torch so proud!
Now the contest is quick closing,
Who next will it be?
Maybe London or Paris,
Let's just wait and see!
There's back and forward chatter,
From our shiny magic screen,
As we watch and guess the outcome
Of the voting score to come!
Flags are waving wildly
From packed Trafalgar Square.
Faces filled with hopefull wishing
Are flashing everywhere!
Paris is filled with people
So closely paced around.
Fireworks spark in circles
Above The Eiffel Tower!
The announcement is still coming.
The wait is far too long.
The olympic anthem's playing
The words are sweet and strong!
The envelope is openned,
After yet another speech,
The rip is rough and jagged,
Wow, it's London's turn at last!
Joy Weare.
6th July, 2005.
