Mr. Jones And I Tell Each Other Fairy Tales

Mr. Jones And I Tell Each Other Fairy Tales

(A Singles Ad For A Princess Gone Bad)

I'm a jaded princess
with a tarnished crown.
My gown is torn.
I wear a pouty frown.

The rubies have fallen
from my K-mart slippers of gold.
My nail polish is chipped,
makeup too bold.

I have no prince
to call my very own.
I dine a la carte--
cold tea, hardened scones.

The peas in my mattress
don't bother me at all.
There's cobwebs in my castle.
My kingdom will fall.

Where is my knight
with armor strong enough
to withstand my flaws,
but not too tough--

A knight that still believes
in chivalry and manners.
Let my cry be heard thru the land.
Wave my singles ad banners.

Errrrr, that IS how they do it?
For a modern-day spinster?
I need a stable prince,
not trying to be sinister.

A white horse would be rather
nice, but I'm not choosy.
I'll be good to him in the bedchambers
though not quite a floozy.

Hear ye all knights, hear
this princess with locks of brown.
Will you take me as is, no refunds,
ignore the tarnished crown?

My pumpkin coach awaits
(On a tight budget, ya know?)
to whisk you straight to me
to dine on stale crackers,
peanut butter, five day old tea.

I ain't too fancy,
but I ain't plastic neither.
Just warning you, boy scout
before you run off scared...

With this princess,
you'd better come prepared.
