Musings by The Poet Loriet

Sunday Sales Ads

Keep in mind
that I'm a relatively young,
hot-blooded American female...
and that sex sells.
It never hurts
to do a little window-shopping!

I'm disappointed in
today's Shopko ads...
the hottest thing going
is Rio Ken barbie doll,
and even he is pretty lame!

Ahhhhhhh...JC Penny
has the idea with
their winter-jacket models
(wolf whistles)...
Damn, baby, take it off!...
but they lose me
with the geeks in sweaters,
and I usually love
a man in a fuzzy sweater,
great for bear hugs!

K-Mart steals my heart
with the slightly dorky guy
in quirky boxers
(It's his fun-loving smile
that wins me over!)
that read, "Do not open
before Christmas!"
I might be tempted to
peek at his package,
treating myself
to an early present,
because I have been
an awfully good girl
this year!
Right, Santa?

I put down the want ads
as I take my final
sip of coffee,
glancing inside
my still-empty wallet,
remembering the age-old addage
that you have to pay to play,
realizing that I'm still
emotionally bankrupt...
but I can still look,
can't I?
The eye candy
is complimentary!

Thank you, God,
for letting me be born
in capitalist America,
where the possibilities
are as endless
as my shopping list!

I just love a good find,
and imagine, Ethel,
he was...

ON SALE!!!!!
