A WEEK AGO THIS MOMENT
The long way home I was brought
After being down and caught
In my deep sadness
Where for a time I escaped the madness
Of money and debt
Of a man that won't let
Me be his devoted wife
I just want to die in this life
Then along came hope
That someone won't say nope
Will say yes make me smile
Let me be free for awhile
That hope found from out there
Can save a poet's life somewhere
The faith to go on another day
When you just feel you're in the way
There's saving grace around the block
Before you stop your life's clock
Who says they love you three times in a row
And if you need someone to live for,
Live for them, just please don't go...
