Friendship Would Be Extinct But For...

This poem shows the limited amount of true friends that still exist and how important it is to maintain them.

True friends are but few;
   Like starved grass
   seeking the morning dew,
                 to nourish the soul,
Something a true friend
                     will not withhold
But when trouble rises...
                            Judas flees
But should I expect water...
           in the desolated seas?
Where the days are hot
  and the nights are still
  and the creatures of habit
               takes your will
Where the bread is small
 and the bed is cold
and the birds of prey
     watch your soul
And all the so-calls
                  forsake their post,
   at such a time
         they're needed the most
I think,
O true friendship would be extinct but for a few
