Every Step of the WayA Poem from the novel "The Essence of Poetry: Gerald's Initial Book of Poems" Written by: Gerald L. Ingraham --------------------------------------------- Twice I had let my pride To disillusion me away, But it won't happen with you Because I'm clear headed today; And I would like to make you Believe the words I speak. I'm crying out to you For your mercy over the weak; Only if you came into my life And make me whole I would do all of what I can To love you as my first goal. I want you to be with me, Every step of the way Because, baby, I need Your kind heart for my love to lay; Would you be my companion Until time separates us by death? I need to tell you You're the reason I breathe this breath. Could you tell me If it is okay? I need your sensual support Every step of the way. This time around, I'm going to be strong Like I had you here In my arms all along; It puzzles me How vascular your love is; But it's amazing That you have this kiss, The kiss which sends me For a strong, passionate manifesting; Which is the reason Why I have come here, confessing.
