Love ReclaimedAlong the shore she walks in sorrow- Fearful of what won't be tomorrow. Her heart so slowly closing its door- She walks in sorrow along the shore. Long time ago, her love went to sea Leaving sweet lass alone with her grief. Sailing to new lands, he said; for gold- Her love went to sea, long time ago. On each new day, she visits the beach Mourning a love so far out of reach. Praying that soon he will find his way- She visits the beach on each new day. As the years go by, hope slips away. Her beautiful face is lined and gray. She no longer walks the beach and cries- Hope slips away as the years go by. Near to death, as she lies on her bed, A vision of young love fills her head. She struggles hard for each simple breath- As she lies on her bed near to death. As life takes leave, a smile lights her face. For she now is in a better place. Her true love waits for her by the sea- A smile lights her face, as life takes leave. Copyright © by Michelle 8/6/05 Style: Swap Quatrain Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
