M's Poetry

Break Me Down

It went on for so long
it felt natural
when you insulted me
I didn't even feel it
raise your hand, strike my cheek
fracturing continuously my self-esteem
I used to hide in the closet
counting to 10
hoping when I opened them
I would be in a new home

When I got older around 12
I ran away only you told them I was crazy
it was you all the time
you was the insane one
but who would believe a child?
you try to medicate me
with zoloft and Ritalin
but that wasn't the cure
when you are the problem

As I got older I try to move forward
tried to be mature and just get along with you
but here you are, same old games
don't you get it?
you no longer are in charge of my strings
guilt trips and silence
won't make me change my mind
I would be an idiot to ever go back
I am right....not gonna back down this time
cuz you can't anymore break me down.
