M's Poetry
Layers Of You
For I know you in all your splendor
in all those dark masks
that you sometimes wear
to cover up all your bruises and cuts
you may leave now and my heart my break
but if you even decide to come back
I will embrace you once again
despite your sins
because I know your heart
and that is all I ever really needed to know
Light bulbs may burn your eyes
and the cruelness of the world
seem to collide right around everything you touch
but I know the real man
beyond the mysterious dust
caring, warm, even friendly
but sadly has been torched
by the knives inserted by the backstabbers
all your life everyone wanted a piece of the pie
greed begets greed
and you always seem to be the prize
if you leave though I promise I will understand
because I know your heart
and I have all along...
no one can tell me anything to the contrary
because I know you are a good man.
