Shipwrecked
Intro: This is one of my favourites. It was written when I lost my job. I was the 'shipwreck', struggling to keeep myself together and gain some sort of perspective. It helped me stay positive and remember the things that are truly important: people and love.
My life is a shipwreck,
Drifting on uncontrollable sea.
Even the crew
Seem to desert,
Like rats do I suppose,
One by one.
The pieces of wood
That hold me together,
Have been pulled away.
The work,
And love,
And freedom
That were part of me,
Floats.
Then the waves begin to swallow them up,
-The work and freedom at least.
I'll try not to disappear though,
And the love stays,
Thee living part of the shell.
