M's Poetry

Before This Death

In everyone comes an end
the door will slam shut
the final words delivered
in this grief I know
one day someone will do the same over me
the pain of losing someone you love
never really goes away

it just becomes an everyday reality
you deal with it, pick up the pieces
and as loudly as you enter
you just sigh and leave
cuz nothing stops this process
but you never become numb to it

you learn to carry on
put that death in a box
you learn to take medication
to ease that depression
and somewhere down the line you wake up
to live where you left off
before this death....

Everyone tries to tell you sorry
some just look at you with sympathy
words flow any other time so easily
but the quietest moments can be found
right before the casket is lowered in the ground
because after all has left
black veils and black limousines
is the final resting place
right over the trees, between the quiet breeze
lies my loved ones in that cemetery
but somehow.....

you learn to carry on
put that death in a box
you learn to take medication
to ease that depression
and somewhere down the line you wake up
to live where you left off
before this death....
