Hand On Glass
Momma it's been a long time
the awkwardness melting away
seems we have a new relationship
all of us have past dues to pay
but we have made it to the other side
seeing you smile warms my heart
you are just as lovely as when I was six
I used to look at you
and wish I would grow up just to be as pretty
Momma would you like for me to buy that?
Pearls are your favorite
through the absences I still remember that
wear them and when you leave
please think of me
let's not wait another two years to do this
momma you know I have never been a real touchy-feeling person
but I want to give you a hug and a kiss
just in case you never know
if time will be good to us
Momma as you wave goodbye
I look out at the window at the airport
just like I did when I was a kid
when you left me then I always hoped you would come back
and this time it's different I know you will
hand on glass just like years that past
whispering as you leave
momma I love you.....
