The sky is dark but only flashes of light,
The ground is cold as the darkness has fallen.
The noise of talking has all come to rest,
For now it is time to monitor the sound.
We all keep down low to the ground,
We don't breathe and we hardly move.
We lay ever so still in the silence.
We were not dragged here,
We were never forced to be here,
We volunteered to come on our own.
We are at war and we are the keepers,
We protect and defend our country.
We are husbands, wives, fathers, mothers,
We are sons and daughters,
But most of all we are soldiers.
We lay still in the silence keeping the peace.
