Rag A Muffin

Just a rag a muffin
bare feet and dirty clothes
unkempt stringy hair
freckles on her nose
Plays in the filthy streets
no friend to call her own
just another child
out there all alone
Sickness all around her
danger on all sides
go on walk past her
with fast hurried strides
Say its not your worry
you don't have the time
nor on this dirty child
will you spare a dime
Whats this world coming to
a blind eye we turn
thats not a lesson
I was taught to learn
Now on the evening news
a child has been found
abused and murdered
NO one heard a sound
Just a rag a muffin
