GENTLE NIGHT

How gentle is the night!
Though, how lonely it is for some.
Yet daylight's rushing hours
prove for me, want of the night to come.

How silent and bright the moon!
It bathes the land in light,
that daytime's harshest rays
can't compare with in my mind's sight.

How wondrous is the dark!
The shadows of trees, black and still
make my heart long for the night
and most certainly always will.
