It doesn't take a knife
To stop some unfeeling creature
From hurting you
A sword is sharp
If you are in for a beheading
All because their ears are useless anyway
You can pith a frog in biology class
And cut out the heart with a scalpel
It will keep beating if potassium and sodium
Are dropped on it concurrently
You can do many things to be cut off
From this society that treats women and children
As soldiers in a war for the right to live
Without fear of mean daddies and hateful husbands
I have to cut you off from my desires
The way I can relieve
Your pain with touch and medicine
While you are cut off this way
It will hurt me more than you
However, I made the choice
It will be a good idea
Or perhaps a bad thought
Maybe it'd be better to lose
My tongue and these hands
That never seem to relax
Because communication is all
We have for each one of us to
Understand that being shunned
Because of those others who
Are "ladies" and "safe"
Is a pain we can no longer allow
And what Mrs. Bobbit did that time
Was crueler than cruel
So keep your parts
As you are cut off from mine.
