Dreamed In Color

Ocean of Despair

My life swallows me like darkness swallows light,
I cannot break free from the loneliness; try as hard as I might.
I sink deeper, deeper, into this ocean of despair,
I feel it closing in around me and I have to gasp for air.
The blackness presses upon my eyes so that I am unable to see,
It calls and begs, but I refuse to give what it asks of me.
My only solace comes from paper, blank and milky white,
With my pen my thoughts pour forth, as my sobs echo through the night.
My tears spill out like raindrops, falling to the ground,
I silence myself to listen, but my heart is the only sound.
Beating, beating, but whom does it beat for?
No one is the answer, it seems it will be the same forevermore.
Loneliness whispers in my ear, above me it likes to hover,
My only friends are the stars, and the moon is my lover.
