In Respect of Friday, 13th March, 2005

It seems to me No.13 is very lucky for me!
--------------------------
13th May Friday 2003;

I had major surgery;
I almost lost my life in horrific circumstances.
But I lived, because of the Angels of;

Adrian Murray's team;
Arrowe Park Hospital.
------------------------
13th March 2004;

My surgeon performed 2 more surgeries;
It was supposed to be 1 operation;
Things went very wrong...
It turned into 2 operations
Both difficult and complicated;
He put me right.

Adrian Murray;
Consultant Specialist;
Gynaecologist;
Obstetrician;
And IVF specialist.

My saviour!
Arrowe Park Hospital.
---------------------------
13th March Friday 2005;
An operation of mercy!
As this poem tells...
--------------------
18th January 2006;
Hopefully the last operation to come;
Hope is a great word; I will never lose it!
-------------------------------------------
Come January 2006;
It will have been;
A total of 4 surgeries in under 2 years;
For the same condition;
I guess 'Friday's' are a good day for me too!
--------------------------
From the age of 19yrs old;
I will have had 18 surgeries in total;
------------------------------
I am more than lucky to be alive;
Apart from the surgeries;
My organs ail and fail...but I am here!
I live!
I will never lay down and die!
If I can survive all I have;
You can too!

Why do I divulge all this information?
Pity?
Oh woe is me?
Oh look what I've had done?

Nah...

Look to me and know I 'survive' the impossible!!

I love my life, no matter what it brings.

Like I say, I write it because I walk the walk of many;
But not many walk the walk of me.

Thank God!!
-----------------------------
My heart gives a skip and I feel sick,
As I sit and reflect on life for a while.
And so once again, I thank my God,
For helping me through this trial!
In the space of a slit second,
My life was almost done…
But a team of doctors saved my life,
When I was almost gone!

Angles, that's what they are,
For they never gave up on me,
Determined to do all they could,
So another day I may see.
For a solid hour, they told me,
They fought so hard for my life,
They worked together, frantically,
One and all - through the fear and strife!

When that very life was failing,
And I was ebbing away on the sea!
These angels of mercy never gave up,
And fought for this life for me!
They tell me sincerely that they thought;
They'd lost the fight and I'd die,
For things were very bad, so it seems,
And that's the reason why!

Why things got so very scary for them,
Doctors and nurses each and every one,
They thought I wouldn't win the fight, and me?
I didn't even know what was going on!
So this time it was firmly out of my hands,
No fight from me at all,
It seems that everyone around that day –
Thought I'd finally get my call.

They tried to bring me round a little,
Telling me my daughter was waiting there,
But I was totally out of it, nothing got through,
Like as though I didn't care…
I have faced the reaper so many times,
Of that it is the truth,
Fought hard and fast each and every time,
Since my early youth;

And every time I won that fight,
And chased that reaper away,
And happily lived to tell my tale to all,
Until yet, another day!
No matter how strong we are;
And no matter how we fight the fight,
If God deems this is our call,
We don't win and wont live another night!

But still that makes no matter,
For it doesn't mean we give up or give in,
For I firmly believe in this heart of mine,
Determination helps us win!
I for one will never stop fighting,
And I will always bounce like a rubber ball!
And the more the odds are against me;
The more I will fight with my all!

For everything that happens there's a reason,
Ours is not to reason why,
We just go with the flow, do what we have to do,
And fight so as not to die!
Except this time when I wasn't able to fight,
For I had no idea at all;
What was happening, what was going on that day!
The day I almost got my call!

But God I know has a plan for us all,
And His plan for me that I can see;
Is to walk many a walk, give help and support,
And be as good as I can be.
So I walk the walk of many,
But not many walk the walk of me,
And the reason why God made me a fighter;
Is really, only known by He!

So I will go on about with my life as I do,
And stay focused and stay strong,
For at the end of the day, what can I say?
It's for life, that's what I long!
How do you thank angels of mercy like that?
Convey what's in your heart?
I'll tell you true, I have no idea how,
So I thought this poem would be a good start.

I can't convey all I want to convey,
Except when I put it into rhyme,
And there it will forever be…
This poem of gratitude till the end of time!
For this will be in my next manuscript,
Of that you can be sure,
Written in black and white for the world to see,
And a memory forevermore!

For Adrian Murray;
And his team;
Arrowe Park Hospital!
