My True Ones

My True Ones

From your view point
I have a shiny costume and a happy face
and if you ask you know what I'll say
"Everything is cool, it's great, I'm okay"

I will throw a party for my fair-weather friends
Just don't look beyond the surface
my emotions are smoldering
and if you ask you know what I'll say
"Everything is cool, it's great, I'm okay"

I don't want to bring you down
so my shell I have found
tucked into these currents
are my raw heart-broken emotions

I can take comfort in strangers
because the little lies I tell aren't really dangerous
they say "how are you?" and I'm not on trial
feeling as though I have been caught
red-handed in a stolen smile

I could be rude, I could be vague
cuz after time passes
who listens to what I really have to say?
certainly not my fair-weather friends
who enjoys the parties but not the darkness
they can't be bothered to ever be my mop
my true ones know where my shell can be found
where my currents run
and all my heart-broken emotions....
