M's Poetry

Daddy & Momma

Woke up reeling
Lost all my belongings
heart on the floor
my eyes to the ceiling
this is my life
I just can't listen
one more drink and I won't miss them
oh I despise your mother
but I do love you...I really think
just never forget who I am
I am prison number #482570
I am your father

Oh it's lonely here
have my roses but they are wilting
have always felt like a failure
exploding, then asking forgiveness
I have lived my whole life
yet never has my heart once melted
I love you daughter but don't talk about your father
we will always have a relationship my child
but it must come with strings
walk the line my child
there you can survive cuz even though it's painful
I will always be your mother

but do you, do you know what love is?
I wonder sometimes if it came up and bit you
would you recognize
all you claim...
tell me father, tell me mother

Oh my child I have now found you
thought I killed your spark
we come in and out of your life
just let's erase all these shady dealings
even if we both have taken turns in prison
we are your parents, what is wrong?
why o child is your love turned off not on?
don't we, don't we fit the descriptions?
of at least your trying parents?
we are not perfect, you just can't expect even great
we may be mediocre or even poor....parents
but we are your blood and in that fact
you never, never can escape

but I just got one question, father & mother
do you know what love is?
I wonder sometimes if it came up and bit you
would you recognize
all you claim...
tell me father, tell me mother

why are you so silent?
I am standing here just waving
won't you just claim me, claim me
just once.....
