They Weren't Present

You breathed new life into mine
time stood still for us on cloud nine
We dug a niche in this night
Then you softly whispered, "wait for me,we'll grow old and you'll be stronger without him"......
now my world is at your feet....
I thought I was found
I was alive and now I've drowned.
So now I will be waiting for the world to hear my song
so they can tell me I was wrong...

But they weren't present to be lost in your stare
and they weren't stripped until they were bare
there was no bindings from the world outside that space
and all pre-conceived ideas were blown away...
so I couldn't or didn't want to say no.....

Oh I know there are millions I told you so's
wanting for me on the other side
and I want to say I will never stop learning
never stop falling, I can't help if I am just human
and for every broken heart
I have to believe someone, somewhere out there
is ready to heal it
so save all your advice
don't you think I have been around these blocks?
cuz no matter where you stand
you are never ever in my shoes
cuz....

they weren't present to be lost in your stare
and they weren't stripped until they were bare
there was no bindings from the world outside that space
and all pre-conceived ideas were blown away...
so I couldn't or didn't want to say no.....
