Wonders Of Love
The city lights shine at midnight
and this heart of mine slowly is sinking
I am behind my wall
and there is ice in my breath
the fire of my love is now just embers
In the smoky room
here inside my favorite bar
I can still see your eyes laughing
as the blues band somberly plays
why oh why couldn't it last?
why couldn't you stay?
If only the tunnel
would shed some light
and I left the sweetest taste upon your lips
I feel this weight so heavy
but I can't give anymore
I love from the bottom of my feet
to my fingertips....
the wonders of love
man they are always growing
my heart keeps revealing
but too often it's broke after a showing
I don't want to walk on wire
and I have tried to put it in perspective
but you haunt my thoughts
there is just no balance left
only tears of my inner flesh
that just eats away at this fake act
of having it all together
smile just always pretending a camera is on
but for all of the talk
It's really true
That if you have no hope
There is none
So the last song ends
it seeps into my brain
and oh I hear the melodies
"We can't change the past
so let's raise the cup to our lips
drink it all in
the rain is cold as steel
but eventually it will give way to the sunshine
love is ever changing
magical, mysterious, foolish and blind
we never will figure it out
so let's stop trying".....
