Poetry Poem

Each New Day

I dream a dream of days gone by,

I dream a dream of days gone by,
Of golden fields with clear blue sky,
To play to lay amongst wild flowers,
Were they minutes were they hours?
Never rain nor ever showers.

An old jam jar a fishing net,
I'll catch some minnows or red throat yet,
To wander home as the sky goes red,
The hours late so time for bed,
But joyful memories spin my head.

On the village green a game of cricket,
A school chum stands before the wicket,
He hits a two and then a four,
A boundary passes the "Visitors" score,
Were summer evenings meant for more?

Our days were filled with endless pleasure,
Times to remember times to treasure,
We'd walk we'd play we'd climb tall trees,
Tear our trousers skin our knees,
Dreams are as good as days like these?

I dream these dreams in my minds eye,
Of golden fields with clear blue sky,
When all was happiness and fun,
From early morn till day was done,
I dream a dream of days long gone.
