 Belle

SultryRose's Signatures

Settle down for sleep my dears
and a story I will tell
about a tiny fairy
and everyone called her Belle

She had eyes of lavender
and long shiny platinum hair
tiny wings of gossamer
and her skin so light and fair

But Belle you see had No voice
other fairy's cast her out
they shunned and called her misfit
so cruel without a doubt

Tiny bells attached to her
was the reason for her name
she had no joy no laughter
just a lifetime filled with shame

While the fairy's played their games
Belle watched through a veil of tears
hid behind an old tree trunk
where she'd lived for many years

Then one night Belle couldn't sleep
she just lay there sight unseen
then her senses all kicked in
Belle had ears so very keen

Belle flew out into the night
an intruder she did spy
thought to capture the fairy's
she'd wake and let them fly

She flew from tree to mushroom
shook her bells for them to wake
they all flew then to safety
in fear they began to shake

As the fairy's hid and watched
the intruder turned on Belle
oh, she gave a mighty chase
the intruder tripped and fell

Belle raced at the ogre's face
made his big old eyes go cross
he was such an ugly sight
but she'd show him who's the boss

He reached out his giant hand
meant to pluck her from the air
she flew between his fingers
then she yanked and pulled his hair

He made it back to his feet
Belle grabbed a hickory stick
and every time he took a step
Belle would whack him really quick

She made a dive through his legs
then flew in one ear and out
poked him right between the eyes
an then punched him in the snout

Had him spinning like a top
around and around they went
first he wobbled then he fell
for the ogre now was spent

Belle circled its mighty head
with the ringing of her bells
all at once a light did glow
the intruder casting spells

Now here in the ogre's place
a Fairy Godmother stood
fairy's came out from hiding
but of course she knew they would

And as the fairy's drew forth
each giving a mighty yell
a Hero now among them
and that Hero's name was Belle

The Fairy Godmother said
"let this be a lesson learned
all are special in their way
as you saw when tides were turned"

So Belle was loved there after
no more misfits in this land
but there were special fairy's
who received a loving hand
