"in brooklyn"
once upon a time
underneath a brilliant and endless blue sky
two black bodies lay together on lush green grass
the vibrance of these colors, though secondary
simply do not go unnoticed
genderless experiences
give birth to a particular sexuality
though beautiful in its freedom
most everyone tries to define them
when night falls
curious people vanish from the park
as my lover and I lay there, still
a quiet air takes shape just over the surface of her skin
it is loud enough for her to feel me
caressing body and mind with arousing speech
and my own lips tremble
I remember those days of activism
echoing in my ears
with a particular fondness
but not a latching on
like love did
once upon a time
underneath a brilliant and endless blue sky
two black bodies lay together on lush green grass
the vibrance of these colors, though secondary
simply do not go unnoticed
genderless experiences
give birth to a particular sexuality
though beautiful in its freedom
most everyone tries to define them
when night falls
curious people vanish from the park
as my lover and I lay there, still
a quiet air takes shape just over the surface of her skin
it is loud enough for her to feel me
caressing body and mind with arousing speech
and my own lips tremble
I remember those days of activism
echoing in my ears
with a particular fondness
but not a latching on
like love did
