Turning the Other CheekMatthew 5:38-42 It has been said an eye for an eye, Just as well of a tooth for a tooth; You may be asking yourself why, So I will tell you the whole truth. Do not use force against the devil, So if one strikes you on the cheek; Turn away rather than towards evil, For a peaceful solution you seek. If anyone that would take your coat, Do not try to grab and take it back; Go in the closet and get your cloak, Then get a bag and offer to pack. If anyone forces you to go a mile, Go with them an extra one or two; Then look at them with a smile, Since the exercise is good for you. Even if someone comes and begs, God expects you to lend a hand; Help him to be stable on his legs, And to be self supporting to stand.
