For My Son

As a cook I am not a star
There are other better by far
but to my son I am

When he was in college
the weekends  he got to come home
He would call and say, mom,
can we have some of that good pizza  you make

*********************

I would take the chef boy down from the pantry
and roll out the thin crust
Then I proceeded to add the many extra I  added when
he was a small lad
Foods that he wouldn't eat unless I disguised them
to ground beef and onions I added
french style string beads and different vegetables and herbs

*********************

When he turned into the drive way
our home would be full of wonderful aromas
He would eat and eat like he was starved to death
He would stretch back in his chair and say,
"no body makes pizza as good as you, Mom"

As a cook I am not a star
they are other better by far
but to my son I am
