Absent Minded

You do it yourself

I could ask you every suggestion
and be insulted by your good intentions
and drive another painful beat
into your heart,
that tightens your veins,
that tightens your throat
but rest assured forever
that I won't.

I could mask your eyes and smiles
and think of every sick thing
you must be thinking
tie all the loose strings
into one big knot
and leave you hanging
but I won't.

I could pick you apart
and tear the bits to pieces
and organize them for you again
i could wrap you up so deep inside yourself
you wouldn't want to know
if you'll ever let yourself out.
