GROW UP

He wants me to grow up
Women my age won't show up
When you want their legs to go up
Over your shoulders so you can roll up

On this woman named Candy

What's the definition of grown?
Does it mean staying alone
Wasting all your precious time
Writing these poems that rhyme

By you, this woman named Candy

So when I'm manic am I old?
So you leave me frantic and I'm told
That I shouldn't be so loud and bold
Because it turns to stone what once was gold

Then the rings come off the hand of a girl named Candy

If grown up is how it's got to be
Then I'll just have to set you free
Because there's a hurting baby in me
That needs all the love from a man who'll see

That the chains of love need wrapped around a girl named Candy

That I can be strong as stainless steel
Either woman or child or both I'm real
To pray God shows me his will
By writing heartunes about the way I feel

So perhaps, he'll understand a womanchild named Candy.
