True Fear
Do you see me smiling?
You can not escape your cruel awaiting fate.
From far beyond the distant past, I am,
So old that mankind can not remember.
From far beyond the distant lights, I came,
falling farther than man will climb.
Deep within your twisted minds, I hide,
behind your strongest doubt, I stand,
To complicate your reason.
I instilled in you the cause of my demise.
It keeps you from seeing my true nature.
Thrown out for Pride flamed treason.
Now, doing good for others boosts your ego.
Make your mark to erase my mark.
It makes you feel good about yourself.
The power of 'I', a self fulfilling prophecy,
will never set you free.
The more you try to be yourself, the more you'll
be like me.
