MY MALE BUTTERFLY

He grew from the larva of my imagination
His colors are light blue and red
For two long years my hesitation
Kept him away from my bed

Now sometimes he flys in my memory
His soft powder wings touch my lips
As I think of the days that have been so stormy
Because he's not here on my fingertips

Butterfly's are free and must fly away
Searching for nectar to eat
The best I can hope is he'll fly back someday
To drink from his candy that's sweet

If I hold on too tight
He'll be unable to soar
I so want him at night
To come to my door

Float on in with his butterfly wings
Give me his natural beauty
Be around me until my heart sings
To love him is my favorite duty

But for now he must leave
There's other gardens to know
As he does I must grieve
And just let my male butterfly go

I'm so lonely without his peace
Butterfly and woman are not the same
He's gone out of my reach
Wild butterfly my love cannot tame

Do I look for a man
with no wings just some arms
Because I do understand
He won't give me his charms

And how can I be a butterfly wife
Butterfly's won't ever marry
How do I get along in this life
When love's too heavy for him to carry.
