Separate Beds

Separate Beds

Is it insomnia that makes you restless?
When you're up in the middle of the night?
While all of us are still abed,
All snugly tucked up tight,
Walking around from room to room,
All around the house,
I hear your footsteps in my slumber,
Not quite as quiet as a mouse,
But then you always wake me up,
Exactly as the clock strikes seven,
Stirring me from my reverie,
In the slumber land of heaven,
A wet nose pushed against my face,
Forces me from my warm bed,
With wagging tail she follows me,
Meg our Labrador wants to be fed.
