Reflecting on my childhood, I realize
Sisters are a true blessing.
Memories flood my mind;
Ponytails, cheerleading,
Church choir, padded bras,
Puppy love, swan dives, competeing for attention.
We had many fights but,
When the chips were down,
Our shared DNA kicked in.
We fiercely protected one another.
I am amused at how our interests have now changed;
Menopause, body aches, gray hairs,
The effects of gravity.
Where did the time go?
Our bodies may have succumbed to the passage of time,
But time has strengthened the glue that binds our hearts.
Nice that my dear sisters are always as close
As the nearest phone.
