This poem began as a long 10 stanza ode to my husband. After several rewrites I realized a simple poem with direct imagery was the best way to express my feelings.
My husband had a dream last night
he said it was of me.
I sat beneath a bountiful tree
where fruit hung heavily.
Small creatures scampered to and fro
upon the bending boughs
while snuggled closely to my breast
was our new born baby boy.
He said as far as the eye could see
there was peace, love and beauty.
My husband had a dream last night
he said it was of me.
