THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC
When was the old-time Tin Pan Alley
renamed Heavy Metal Valley,
And when did music for restful napping
become noise for angry rapping?
Was it while soft music so melodious
became loud rock so odious,
Or after the old-time Rhythm and Blues
devolved to drugs and hard booze,
Folk Music became an excuse to toke---
music just as a hungry joke,
And softly enjoyable harmonic strains
were replaced by hammering pains?
Silver-haired oldsters now happily seize
at sounds that please,
The sounds that bring them hearing ease,
sounds of the Golden Oldies!
