 The Unfairness Of Angels

If I Could Grow Wings

If I could grow wings I’d fly in the sky
Passing by heaven to ask God why?
I wont ask him about war and death
I know he doesn’t care so I wont waste my breath
I’ll ask him why he gave my mum cancer
And I will not leave until he tells me the answer

If I could grow wings I’d fly across the sea
And make love every night to a special lady
Protect her from harm under my wings
And let her fly on my back, exploring the most beautiful things
I’d glide through the air across mountains and trees
With the wind on our back with a cool summers breeze

If I could grow wings I would fly into space
Searching the universe for an alien race
Be at one with the stars exploring the planets
Seeing if these creatures had copied our habits
I’d find a woman who had wings and would now believe
And to stay on a planet and be Adam and Eve

If I could grow wings I’d look rather strange
Not really knowing if I’d want to fly out of range
The things that I want to know, I might not like what i hear?
And be stuck with my wings, alone with me fear
Be shunned by the world, and be called a freak
But if I could grow wings I’d give you a beak.
