SNOWY SUNDAYThere's white fluff all over the ground Silence at night as the snow falls down Colder than usual for this part of the state A week before Christmas, love before it's too late Christmas is for caring and going on Snowballs and snowmen to work upon Hot food and spirits warmed by your touch Giving to others singing and such Parties and arguments about what to do Leaving those upset who are loved by you When it doesn't really matter who comes around As long as the holidays are safe and sound Have you been good this year and did you try? To give in peacefully when you're wondering why God is love and love is the King Do you expect the Angels to bring You everything that your heart desires Or maybe sit with you to retire By the warmth of a brick fireplace Is that the snowy Sunday you face Do you think of others out in the cold Maybe lonely and crying because they've been sold Out to the darkness and have lost all hope Are you going to sit there in warm and tell them nope You cannot help as you're in a hurry While they freeze as the snow flurries You don't even bother to give them some food Just run on by them as if it's not rude What if they once were just like you With a home, a job, and the holidays to do Wouldn't you want someone to share When it's a snowy Sunday if you were out there? 12/18/2005 2011 cj Vote for this poem
