A Writers Heart (I wrote this for a poet in Utah dying of cancer)
I know you not! Yet I know you. I see you not! Yet I stand before you with a writers heart, and have admiration for your works?
I cry not for you, but for those who lack what you have!
A writers heart is molded with many breaks.
It sometimes leaks Love and compassion for lost one's to find their way!
At times even Shakes its fist at the ignorance of man! Gods greatest of all creatures lack of the true understanding of life, yet to lay claim to such great intellect.
Why do we deny what we can't comprehend? And defend what we blindsidedly believe in.
True Greatness is not a design, it's an achievement! Not that of numerical value, but one of true values. Love, morality, and kindness.
As writers, we play our part as philosophers of life, stretching letters together, forming our thoughts into words that rhyme, or not!
In the hopes that they will somehow find their way into the cold damp heart of one that has no feeling.
And in your own words! Let it dance with life! Then our Job here is done!
The eyes that weep for us, need not!.
For as Our dance with life comes to a close, Our words find us rejoice! As our life's external hull expires.
I pray for you today to hold steadfast, until that last dance takes you from us all!
I found you on my window of seclusion!
I'll say goodbye to you as a friend! That I know, yet never met!
(Ken Brewer) My Prayers go out to you and your family. That you dance your last dance gracefully! And as that pen drops from your hands, the world will someday understand, the true compassion of a writer.
God bless you! When the music ends may your words continue to dance with mankind Forever!
Ken Passed Away
(The world has lost a great friend!)
Utah 's Poet Laureate Ken Brewer passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Brewer taught at Utah State for many years, but poetry was his gift and he shared his gift with the world for over 40 years. In 2005, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he continued to write, even about his failing health.
