WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE
My dogs run at Olney Cemetery
While I visit the dead
There's a peaceful commentary
That runs through my head
Thinking of my friend Janet
Of my old neighbor Thomas Vaughn
How they're out above this planet
While their bodies in the lawn
My spirit talks to the sky
As my dogs run and play
I look for a place where I would lie
If I were to die this day
That's why I say I love you
Because it could be too late
I need your kindness too
We don't have a lifetime to wait
The dead appreciate me
That I bring life here to run free
They know and understand
I love them the best can
Wanted dead or alive
At 47 or 75
I do not forget them there
They know in this heart there's care
For many like the silent one's
As I speak to them and my dog runs
One away from the other
I write of them because I am a poetic lover
And I love
And I pray to a higher power above
And you can laugh at me all you want
In poetry their spirit will haunt
This mind divine
Is all that's true
So until next time my friends
Remember, dead or alive, I love you.
