 Soldier's Widow

Lost, baffled,
She enters the room;
Beholds the pictures,
Badges, Medals of Honor.
She opens the closet,
Embraces, Smells the uniform.
Then sighs,
Gazing at the mirror of her grief…
Images of emptiness
Loneliness,
And darkness reside in her mind…
In her lamenting soul,
Echoes of weeping with a flood of tears
Traveling in her inner coldness …
She tries to flee;
The coffin and burial ceremony follow her
While the anthem still echoes in her ears…
She looks back
And remembers...
The first sight,
The first kiss,
She moans…
