 A Woman from the East

A woman from the East....
more beautiful than fairies
and sea-nymphs,
dusky with sublime dignity,
bedecked in fine silk raiment,
bathed in fragrance that floats like
a ghostly essence.
The aroma of incense
and spice
Radiate from her.
Her hair.......
legends from god of winds
Her lips........
taste of ambrosia.
Her breasts........
pyramids of Egypt.
She emerges from the
effluvium of incense
like the goddess of magic
bringing back to the East
it's charm.

A woman from the East....
chases dreams,
fears the sea
but loves drowning;
hiding behind the
veil of love,
fuels the flames of desires
with loneliness and dreams,
for she loves from a distance.
A woman from the East.....
Wears the poem's raiment,
loves gypsies' dance,
pouring rain,
and fire's rites.

A woman from the East.....
Teaches me how to perform
my prayers,
love's rites,
burning the body in passion's flames,
and the divine letters.
