 The Battle (In My Head)

Sometimes I lie awake for hours in my bed
Trying to referee the fights in my head
Part of my personality is desperate to please
The other knows letting go is the way of ease
I tell myself it wasn't all for naught
I try to allow myself to be taught
Simple words from a great friend
Remind that nowhere near is the end
He told me relax, everything's alright, Life is long
I believe his words could be woven into a song
Reflecting on and embracing the good times
Taking pleasure in reflecting through my rhymes
Words and thoughts sometimes conflict and crowd my head
Trying to referee the fights, hopes and dreams in my head
